BASAMA “Mother of the forest”
Basama is an experimental project Basama is a name of basque origin and translates to “mother of the forest”, which is used in Álava to refer to the jay bird.
Just like this bird nests in different trees, the wine to which it gives its name has matured in different barrels. The grapes that have been used to make the five wines come from a single field. Grapes of the Tempranillo variety from a vineyard located in Lantziego. The difference between the five wines is in their aging, since each wine has aged in oak barrels from different countries or different amount of toasting. You will appreciate that after this aging in different oak, these five wines are enriched with diverse aromas and flavors, unique and expressive, just like the traveler who is enriched by different cultures or the bird that nests in different trees.
